No. 2: Dissolution potential of oxygen gas into the water with eco-Bubble®-3N                                   (May 5, 2013)

Aims of the experiment
To increase the potential of the micro/nano-bubble generator for dissolving oxygen gas into the water, we developed the device with three nozzles of DDHRS to produce the micro/nano-bubbles. We examined the potential of this device for dissolving oxygen gas into the water.

Experimental conditions
Prior to the experiments, 2.1 m3 of sea water was put in a tank, and was bubbled with nitrogen gas to decrease DO level of the water less than 20% in DO saturation Level. The oxygen poor water was aerated with a conventional diffuser, eco-Bubble®400, and eco-Bubble®-3N with three nozzles of DDHRS. The time required to increase the DO saturation level of the water between 20% and 95% was compared among the experiments with these bubbling devices.
  The conventional diffuser and eco-Bubble®400 work with a submerge pump with 400W of electricity consumption. eco-Bubble®-3N works by the water supply from a land pump with 1500W of electricity consumption.

Results:  

  • Enhanced potential of eco-Bubble-3N for dissolving oxygen gas into the water
    The time required to increase DO saturation levels of 2.1 m3 of sea water
    between 20% and 50%.

   Three sets of conventional diffusers at the total air flow rate of 6 L/min.
         55 min. 29 sec.
   eco-Bubble®400 with a single nozzle of DDHRS at the air flow rate of 2 L/min.
         15 min. 22 sec.
   eco-Bubble®-3N with three nozzles at the air flow rate of 6 L/min.
          3 min.

An experiment to control DO level of the water in prawn farming pond

Aeration of the water with micro/nano-Bubble released from eco-Bubble®-3N
  The water of a prawn farming pond was aerated with eco-Bybble®-3N to prevent the decrease of DO levels of the water during the nighttime. The experiment was conducted with the collaboration of the prawn farming company, Ebino-Miyagawa, Ltd. (Amausa, Kumamoto, Japan) in August, 2013.
